Think these guys are interested in: Teamwork, Productivity Delivery and Quality? You bet - and they use Lean Thinking
"Races are won and lost on pit road every week," said Beatriz Perez, vice president, Sports Marketing, North American Division, the Coca-Cola Company.
Life on Pit Road
A NASCAR pit crew has an easy life, right? In each weekly race, there are four or five pit stops, each lasting 15 to 18 seconds. That's 1.5 minutes of work a week. Pretty cushy job, wouldn't you think?
Think again. In the first place, those seconds on pit road are grueling. In that short time, the "over the wall" gang must change four tires; refuel the car and send it back out into the race. Their performance in those precious seconds can mean victory or defeat for their driver. |
Lean Manufacturing in Wire & Cable
Lean Principles are not limited to large factories involved in mass production. Even smaller job shops like Hueson Wire see the value of implementing lean to reduce scrap, improve quality and minimize lead times. Our strategic planning includes implementing lean principles beginning in 2008. We are currently working with experienced outside professionals that will guide us through the process. We are excited about the future benefits our valued customers will see as the result of our diligence.
